Whitney spent her days running between the different units, providing instructions, emotional support, and technical advice.
When COVID-19 first appeared in “ICU”, Whitney was about 8 months pregnant. Although Whitney was still willing to take an assignment, our management team decided to utilize her in a different role. Whitney became the resource person for ICU and its satellites 1 South, ACU, and PACU. She spent her days running between the different units, providing instructions, emotional support, and technical advice. She worked with the clinical specialist to teach “Just in Time training” to allow Med/Surg nurses to feel confident to assist in the ICU as “RN Buddies” to the ICU nurse. In addition to her clinical expertise, Whitney also coordinated and provided breaks for the nurses, organized the community donations of food, masks, and hair coverings for the entire hospital. I have always been proud to work with Whitney, this experience has increased my gratitude for the nurse that she is today.
