Sharon Reid and Jeff Dowdy took time to bathe this patient, fed him, and gave him a warm bed for the night.
One evening a 61 year old male presented to the free standing emergency department affiliated with Bon Secours Southside Medical Center complaining of numbness. The patient expressed he struggled with alcoholism. The patient told us that he was just cold and couldn’t feel his feet. Our medical team brought the patient in and medically evaluated him and cleared him. Nurses Sharon Reid and Jeff Dowdy took time to bathe this patient, fed him, and gave him a warm bed for the night. They also made a gift bag with toiletries for his discharge. They tended to the patient all night and kept him comfortable and warm. They arranged for a cab to a shelter for the patient after he was fed breakfast. Simply put…Compassionate care with such grace and generosity of spirit exemplifies the mission of Bon Secours.
