Carly brought my baby a bottle of lavender oil to put in her bath.
Our daughter has been in the hospital since March. Up until the beginning of June I was able to stay with her at night. I started back to school recently and nights are always the hardest to be away. On nights before this, when we knew the nurse and was comfortable leaving, I would go home to sleep but when school started back I was unable to stay due to the exhausting amount of work/distance. From the first night my baby had Carly, we felt completely at ease. We do not know the night nurses as well as the day but just hearing the amount of love coming from Carly’s voice about our daughter and the care she was receiving from her was everything we needed. Nurses like Carly are the reason we, as parents, felt comfortable leaving our girl overnight. I have always said it is the little things that people do to make you know they care and she did just that. She brought my baby a bottle of lavender oil to put in her bath on the 3rd-5th night she was her nurse. My baby had been experiencing delirium and this helped her relax and sleep. Nurses like Carly are the reason we love Medical City Children’s. Nurses like Carly should be recognized because what may have been something she would do for anyone and an everyday kindness to her let a mom and dad sleep, it let us relax too which has been hard to do and for that, we are so thankful.
