Sara had the kitchen staff make us breakfast tacos and she brought them to us. She stayed giving us bathroom breaks and checking on us every hour and more.
I would like to recognize Sara White, House Supervisor Extraordinaire, for her outstanding help recently. We had a very complicated morning in the PACU starting with an OR case, a laceration, and nerve repair on a suicide attempt. The entire house was full with no anticipated discharges. We were holding this med/surg patient in the PACU waiting room for over 5 hours. Sara had the kitchen staff make us breakfast tacos and she brought them to us. She stayed giving us bathroom breaks and checking on us every hour and more. She was also able to secure a sitter on very short notice. This is especially needed in our area due to the fact that we only have 2 nurses. The unit is secure from other areas, and we have other OR and ENDO patients to care for. Sara understands our unit intricately and also understands our limitations and specialty needs. I cannot express how much I sincerely appreciate all that she did for us that day and every time she is House Supervisor because this is just how she is. She goes over and above providing her expertise and critical thinking to her patients and her nursing staff. We are very lucky indeed to have her at ASW!
