During the pandemic, the hospital established a no visitor policy. Crystal always made her best effort to ensure that the family had a Zoom session with patients.
Crystal is an exceptional ICU nurse who always goes above and beyond when providing care for patients as well as assisting the healthcare team. Crystal always demonstrates a compassionate, caring, positive attitude towards patients, family, colleagues, and all health care disciplinary teams. Crystal always willingly makes time to help others whenever we need her assistance, from assistance in a code or patient deteriorated situation to clean or bathing patients. Crystal is always willing to pick up more shifts to help the team. During the pandemic, Crystal worked 5-6 days a week to assist the team and take care of patients. Crystal is not only kind to patients, patient's families, she is also kind to all her colleagues. During the pandemic, Crystal volunteered to be assigned more COVID 19 patients, so that her colleague, who has small children did not have to take care of COVID 19 patients. Not only does she take very good care of patients, but Crystal also always goes above and beyond in communicating with patient's families. During the pandemic, the hospital established a no visitor policy. Crystal always made her best effort to ensure that the family had a Zoom session with patients. There was an elderly patient admitted with COVID 19 infection. The patient's spouse neither had a cell phone nor the knowledge of Zoom technology to do a Zoom session with the patient. Another time, there was a COVID 19 patient, who underwent respiratory distress and needed intubation. Crystal worked her hardest to ensure that patient and his family had a Zoom meeting while waiting for the intubation process. Those are only a few examples of many compassion and caring nursing characteristics that Crystal shows and inspires use. Crystal is a DAISY Nurse because she always demonstrates compassionate, caring, and positive nursing characteristics toward patients, family, and colleagues.
