Callie has led debriefings for staff when there have been challenging situations on the unit that would benefit from more review and discussion.
Callie is an exceptional Nurse working on the GMPU. Everyone knows the kind of compassion and understanding this specialized patient population requires and Callie always brings her heart to work with her. Not only does Callie provide excellent care daily to the patients, but she has also gone over and above in taking patients outside for a needed break from the unit to our beautiful courtyard. She spends time with family members helping them to understand how their mother, father, sister, brother, uncle, aunt, etc. is doing. She has stepped up to take on some individualized training of staff members in appropriate use of geriatric/psychiatric equipment and often works with her coworkers to figure out what the unit needs by way of staffing or support. She is an active advocate for her patients when she sees a need that may not be being met in a way she thinks would be helpful. Callie has led debriefings for staff when there have been challenging situations on the unit that would benefit from more review and discussion. She is an outstanding staff member, a natural leader and we are all truly lucky that she has devoted her career here at UMass Memorial HealthAlliance Clinton Hospital.
