Karen made me feel like a welcome member of the team while even being a student!
I am an LPN who is working to obtain my RN. I have had the pleasure of working alongside Karen as part of my clinical preceptorship experience. Thanks to Karen’s guidance and support, I have had the best clinical experience in my program. Karen is a fantastic preceptor. She was very easy to approach and open with communication. I did not feel as though there were any topics that I could not ask about and Karen would provide the feedback that I need the most. She is laidback and the whole time I felt like I was around a coworker; it was comfortable.
Karen was always striving to find me skills and learning experiences despite the fact that she was busy. From my observations, even when staffing was short, she provided all the patients she worked with excellent care, and they were comfortable talking with her and in their interactions. She is genuine in her compassion and advocates excellently for each and every one of her patients, even when it is difficult. As a still-growing nurse, I hope to learn from this experience and use it to shape how I will be as an RN. Karen made me feel like a welcome member of the team while even being a student! Even when I felt down, she acted like how a member of any team should do and encouraged me, and pulled my mood up with her humor. Thanks to her, I have even considered working at Providence!
