We recently learned that my daughter has congenital adrenal hyperplasia. Due to this recent diagnosis, she needed more testing to figure out her treatment plan. My daughter suffers from severe anxiety and I was dreading this process. My husband and I did not fully detail what would be occurring at her appointment to try to ensure she would be calm. However, as soon as we got there and were put into the room, Lindsey did an amazing job explaining the entire process to her. My daughter is advanced, but she still is only eight. She has the normal fears of any eight-year-old and needles are definitely one of them. She answered all of her questions in a way that she was able to understand. She ensured she was comfortable before we began and after explaining the entire process to our daughter. She then explained the process to us adults. Lindsey kept us involved in the entire process of the day and would routinely check on us. At the end of the ordeal, my daughter went over to her, thanked her, and stated “I wish I could hug you.” she ended up giving her a hug and telling her she made her enjoy the experience so much that she hopes to come back just to see her! This experience changed my entire view of IU Health. We’ve continuously had nothing but amazing experiences. Having a child with anxiety is tough enough but we’ve constantly been treated above and beyond. So pleased and my heart is so full.
