I truly believe the outcome would have been different if Flory was not working that day.
I would like to nominate Flory for her excellence and professionalism. I had an opportunity to witness/assist a code white situation with a patient in the PICU. The patient was critically ill who was transferred from the pediatric unit to the PICU earlier that day. UCLA transport team came to transfer the patient to UCLA for a higher level of care. After the UCLA transport team attempted to leave with the patient, the patient coded ending 20 minutes of CPR. During the code, Flory kept everyone in line and assisted attending physicians to make sure all the events were documented, and alerted all personals involved. Not only did her outstanding clinical skills come into play but also her compassionate bedside care helped put parents at ease during such a stressful time. I truly believe the outcome would have been different if Flory was not working that day. Her clinical skills professionalism and compassion truly is an outstanding role model for our staff.
