Falcon knew M best, and she knew what calmed her down.
Falcon was the nurse we had from the moment we arrived at the hospital. Our daughter M was life-flighted at 5 days old. We had been up for over 24 hours and Falcon made us feel right at home and assured us they would take good care of M. Falcon went above and beyond in everything she did.

From the start she talked through everything she was doing to M and why, how all the equipment worked and what it was for. When it came to doing cares on M like irrigating her rectum, Falcon used common sense. Her technique was more effective, for instance, opening the kink in the catheter and she was the only one who did that and was very successful in the outcome. My husband was keeping a detailed journal of the events every day since M's condition was so complicated and a lot going on; Falcon went out of her way to make us a detailed copy of what we were missing. She would bring us to the nurses station and show us on the computer M's x-rays and tests. She would explain everything to us and take her time to make sure we understood what the images meant. She also sat in from her home on her day off to take part of the conference we had with all the teams to discuss M's condition and future care so she could better understand her condition with TIAHD and be able to care for her right. And because she did that she was able to explain to the other nurses why certain things were being done because it didn't make sense to them.

Falcon knew M best, and she knew what calmed her down. If she would miss us in the morning she would always leave notes of how the night went so we would know. She decorated M's door. When it came down to learning her care at home she started training us on how to prime and put together all the pieces for her TPN and lipids. She made sure we knew and understood what we were doing and why, so much so we were critiquing other nurses! That's how well she taught us! Those skills have been the most effective way we have seen. We can't express enough the gratitude and appreciation and love we have for having Falcon through this time. It’s been the worst thing we've gone through not knowing if your baby is going to make it; having to come to the reality your child can't eat like everyone else and doesn't have working guts is a lot to take in. She took a load off our shoulders every time we had her and gave us assurance that we can do this. We are so thankful she's part of our lives and M's journey. The world needs more people like her!
