Diane stuck with her "inner nurse instincts" knowing that this transfer was in the best interest of the patient’s safety and because of that, the patient had everything in place that they needed.
Diane is amazing in what she accomplishes daily In the Emergency Department and plays such an important role. Recently, she was a true miracle worker. A patient in our OBS unit was being told two very conflicting plans of care from CVT and cardiology. The CVT provider wanted the patient transferred out to an out-of-state facility for urgent surgery, the Cardiologist disagreed. Diane knew how sick this patient was, and continued to work through the transfer process even though she was hearing that the transfer might not be needed. By the late afternoon, Diane had secured the transfer "just in case it was going to be needed." Later that evening, the patient deteriorated and required intubation and ICU upgrade. Diane stuck with her "inner nurse instincts" knowing that this transfer was in the best interest of the patient’s safety and because of that, the patient had everything in place that they needed. This patient had commented to Diane previously that she wanted to take our team with her when she transferred, so the next morning Diane brought an angel ornament as a token to let her know she was sending our team with her to her next facility.
