Cindy made sandwiches for her patients, without them ever knowing it was bought with her money and her husband taking the time to go to the store and deliver it to the hospital.
Cindy works PRN in CVSD but actually works the hours of a full-time nurse. Whenever there is a need, Cindy is there to fill it. Even after working her full-time job as a school nurse, Cindy will come in for a few hours so our PCC wouldn't have to be in staffing at the beginning of shift, allowing the PCC to get some other work finished. This past Wednesday night I was working with Cindy when we did not have any sandwiches on the floor. After calling other floors we still could not find any sandwiches for our patients, 2 of which were diabetic. Cindy didn't just take no for answer, she solicited the help of her husband and asked him to bring turkey and buns to the hospital.
At 10:30 at night, Cindy's husband was shopping at Kroger and delivered the turkey and bread to the hospital. Cindy made sandwiches for her patients, without them ever knowing it was bought with her money and her husband taking the time to go to the store and deliver it to the hospital. This is just one act of kindness Cindy has shown in the six years I have worked with her. Cindy goes out of her way for every patient, family member, co-worker, or visitor. She is the epitome of what a nurse should be.
