Dominique's professionalism and demeanor were always front and clear in the performance of her duties. Including telling me what I didn't want to hear.
After undergoing the whipple procedure I was fortunately roomed post-op at UMC's Oncology Unit. I was fortunate enough to have such a dedicated healthcare team to bring me out from the other side, but particularly I credit Dominique. You can't really pinpoint why someone instills confidence and hope for a patient. To me, this represents part of the Nurse's mission and has that important criterion. Her professionalism and demeanor were always front and clear in the performance of her duties. Including telling me what I didn't want to hear. For instance, the stomach tube had to stay in. That resulted in me taking on a trip in the hot tub time machine back to 1977 and Gabe Kaplan's famous sitcom, "Welcome Back Kotter", where Horschack would always gather the gang with, "up your nose with a rubber hose", line. That got me and Dominique laughing so hard that the Dr. was scheduling me for a tune-up. She is a total Nurse!
