Andrea's demeanor eases these families going through probably the scariest time of their lives, and she instills trusting relationships with her patients and their families naturally.
Andrea is truly extraordinary. She always goes above and beyond in the way she cares for her patients, reassures and cares for the family, and serves as a team player. Se is a value to our team in every way. Her confidence and knowledge fill families with relief and her caring nature reassures families that they are in good hands. Her demeanor eases these families going through probably the scariest time of their lives, and she instills trusting relationships with her patients and their families naturally.
One of our extremely busy shifts I remember she took that time to bathe her patient with soothing music on and ensured the baby was dressed in the adorable clothes the mother had tucked away. It had made such an impact on the mother because her baby had been dressed in hospital gowns after getting heart surgery and this was the first time she saw her in her baby clothes and an adorable headband.
Her leadership skills during a crisis are one that I always know I can rely on. Whenever I come into work and I see that she is on shift with me, I know that it is going to be a good day because I have a truly solid teammate whom I can count on. She always has a calm and caring demeanor and is always willing to lend a helping hand. She navigates all the roles she fills with ease as a charge nurse, resource nurse, and cross-training to CTICU or CV Acute.
She truly exemplifies DAISY Nurse in every way, and CHLA is truly a warmer and compassionate place because she works here.
