Lika noticed that I didn’t want to sit in bed anymore so she got me a chair to make me feel more comfortable.
I wanted to express my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Lika Yannotta when she was my assigned L&D RN. Before meeting Lika, I was already admitted to the hospital to induce labor for over 24 hours without success. This was my first pregnancy and I was very worried and scared, not sure what to expect or how much longer would it take to give birth to my baby. I felt very tired and frustrated but when Lika came into my room with a big, bright smile and introduced herself, I immediately felt better because of her sincere warmth. She provided me with lots of encouragement and explained what she would do as my L&D RN along with rest of the team to help me through the process.
Lika checked on me frequently and monitored my contraction intervals closely throughout the day. She encouraged me to walk around the room and use the balance ball to help make the laboring process smoother. Lika noticed that I didn’t want to sit in bed anymore so she got me a chair to make me feel more comfortable. She helped me to the bathroom several times and saw me in my most vulnerable state, changing my gowns frequently while making me feel at ease and more comfortable.
As it approached 36 hours with various doctors coming in and out of my room trying different methods to induce labor, I broke down and cried. It was my husband holding my hand on one side of the bed and Lika holding my other hand to offer support and encouragement. Ultimately I had to get a c-section but Lika made sure to coordinate and transport me to OR before she ended her work shift. I relied heavily on her throughout the entire process and I’m eternally grateful to Lika for being my angel.
I appreciate all the hard work that the doctors and L&D staff did to take care of me but Lika stood out from the rest. I told her that if all nurses were like her, the world will be a better place. I insisted that she provide me with her supervisor’s contact information although she said this is part of her job – to take care of her patients. I am so proud and thankful to Lika and your team for the care provided to me at your department. Wishing you the best and am forever grateful.
