The charge nurse came in and introduced herself and asked if I needed anything and how could she make my stay better. She also asked if I had a blue admission book. I did not, so she left and brought me one and explained the materials inside including treatment guide and the medication teaching sheet.

At this time, the primary nurse was passing the night medication and one of my family members called. The primary nurse answered the phone and the whole drawer from the WOW fell on the primary nurse’s right foot, injuring the pinky toe. The charge nurse had the primary nurse sit while they both looked at the primary nurse’s foot. After they made sure, there was no bleeding, but mild swelling and a lot of pain were noticed by the primary nurse. The charge nurse had the primary nurse sit down and apply ice and elevate the foot and eventually called for a couple of Tylenol from the pharmacy.

The charge nurse took over and gave me my medication and she gave medication to another patient to help the primary nurse out. I was impressed with the teamwork of the charge nurse. She never complained but was handling her busy with a smile. The primary nurse was able to walk around with a limp. I was just glad she did not do any serious injury to her foot. Both these nurses need to be recognized for the team effort as well as the tech; they all took care of my needs, and I am thankful for the nurses at Methodist Mansfield. Miss Cathy is one hell of a nurse, with much class and style!
