Nichol was our overnight nurse in the NICU while my baby had phototherapy. Here are just a few of the ways she made our stay extraordinary:

She validated my new mom hormonal feelings and helped calm me down.

She gave me many opportunities to change and feed my baby, so we could bond even though he was in phototherapy.

She looked after MY health as well as my baby’s. making sure that I took time to shower and always had fresh ice water.

She found me extra giant maxi pads for my postpartum bleeding, even though I wasn’t technically a patient anymore and they don’t store those in the NICU.

She encouraged me when my pumping efforts were depressing me.

She stayed past the end of her shift to comfort and reassure me that my baby would be ok.

I will always remember and be grateful for the support Nichol gave me when I was a frightened and overwhelmed new mom alone in the NICU.
