Xiaowan is an excellent Charge RN. She is very calm, helpful, and smart. Last week, I started off my shift by dealing with a difficult visitor that would not leave and abide by visitor restrictions. She stepped in calmly and gave the visitor the policy, and when she refused to leave, she initiated the chain of command and promptly dealt with security.

After the chaotic morning with my visitor, Xiaowan managed to keep helping with a positive attitude. Xiaowan is the kind of nurse who shows up 12 shifts in a row to help the unit. She’s the kind of nurse who comes up with solutions to help her team. She is the type of nurse to make the best of a challenging assignment. I am always happy to see Xiaowan in the morning when I work. I know that no matter how stressful, challenging, or chaotic the day is, she will be there to be the calm resource I always need. I have done the charge role before, and I know how stressful it can be on our unit. Xiaowan exemplifies the type of leader that Dignity Health would label as humankindness. I hope to keep working with her indefinitely.
