Vicky makes sure that everyone has support and whatever tools they need to succeed.
Vicky places patients at the center of everything she does. She understands that patient goals and needs are the priority of our care. Vicky tries to cover up but she has the softest heart. She cries with caregivers, patients, and families. That's not something everyone sees because she is such a professional and remains calm in a crisis. Her Caregiver's heart and exceptional clinical skills when combined, make her an outstanding person and nurse.
Vicky makes sure that everyone has support and whatever tools they need to succeed. You will frequently see her running arm blankets to patients and making sure their families have compassion carts and meals when they stay with a patient. Vicky is a pro at difficult IVs and is frequently requested by patients because of her kindness and skill. While Vicky strives to improve her skills and patient outcomes, she works to mentor others as well.
Vicky is a great mentor and coach. She leads competencies and coordinates with other House Supervisors for mock codes. She knows every piece of equipment and helps others gain autonomy with them. Vicky pushes people, both Caregivers, and patients, to work harder and do better. She loves to watch patients succeed in reaching their goals. Her most endearing quality is her belief in teamwork. I have heard her say many times, "There is no I in TEAM" and she proves this daily.
Recently, she came in on her day off to precept a PICC placement. She wanted to assist a nurse in reaching autonomy and make a patient's access to care easier. She accomplished both on that day and many others. So glad she is part of our team, hospital and community.
