My uncle had a massive stroke. We were shocked and scared of what the outcome could possibly be and what his future would turn into. After a week of difficulty understanding the full picture due to COVID restrictions and communication done mostly by phone and during shorter visiting hours, we were all frustrated and uncertain and our uncle was struggling to understand his situation and just wanted to go home. Janice stepped in and got an understanding of his treatment plan so far and went in to talk with him about the importance of staying in bed and focusing on small steps to start the road to rehabilitation. He connected with Janice and felt comfortable enough to joke with her. It was a huge relief to have a better understanding of the plan for his recovery and to know that someone took the time to make that connection with him! He kept mentioning pizza to Janice during his visit hours and his sister wasn't allowed down in the Subway restaurant area--so Janice went above and beyond and bought him a pizza. It may seem like a small thing, but her thoughtfulness and compassion made such a difference to him and to us. We are grateful to have had her on his team and want her to get the recognition she so deserves for her huge heart and for making such an impact on our family.
