Stephanie replaced the batteries in his hearing aids. This was one of the first things my dad told me by phone after he was off the vent and he wanted to make sure that I thanked her.
My mentally strong father, age 91, was admitted with a heart attack and had stopped breathing in route to the hospital. He was placed on a ventilator. He wears hearing aids. Stephanie realized he was having difficulty hearing the doctors, assessed that the batteries were dead and the correct size of the batteries which is not easy. The following day on her shift she brought in a card of batteries and replaced those in his hearing aids. This was one of the first things he told me by phone after he was off the vent and he wanted to make sure that I thanked her. He commented several times on her kindness and exceptional caregiving. She was exceptional in keeping his family, who live in Indiana, informed, which was a huge blessing. Given his condition, there is little doubt of the gracious impact she had on his wellbeing as well as the peace of mind of his family. Thank you, Stephanie!
