When Vince looked into my eyes to talk to me you could see true compassion.
My mom of 90 was taken to the ER in August. She had a lot of problems with blood pressure and her O2. At one time they had eight people working on her. They let me sit to the side. Lots of tubes, machines, beeping, blood draws, and tests. All the doctors (and there were three) were very nice in explaining things to me, but there was one shining star out of the whole lot. His name is Vince. Throughout the day and all the highs and lows and waiting, he was there. When he looked into my eyes to talk to me you could see true compassion. Not only was he caring for my mother but he was caring for me too. He probably checked on me every 30 minutes or so. He wanted to know if I had any questions, concerns, if I needed food or water, and if I understood what was going on. Unfortunately, my mom was placed on comfort care that evening and died the next morning. Vince may have only been in my mom’s life for seven or eight hours, but he will always be in my thoughts forever for caring; "because nice matters.”
