Chasity Wilson is a compassionate nurse. A DAISY Award is long overdue for her. She genuinely cares and goes out of her way for her patients. One example happened a few months back when I was rounding on patients.

A patient told me how extra wonderful Chasity was. He was going through a very hard time because his wife was in another room and had just got intubated in our unit. Prior to her intubation, Chasity got together with the MD and respiratory to make it to where he could visit his wife in her room while she was on the v60 so they could discuss going on the ventilator and they could say goodbye to one another. This task was not easy because he was on 100% Vapoterm himself at the time and our portal monitors did not go to our main monitor.

We loaded him up and Chasity sat with them so she could keep an eye on her patient but give them their privacy. This act meant the world to him, and he told me numerous how thankful he was for such a thoughtful nurse who went out of her way so he could see his wife. This would be the last time he talked to his wife she passed away a few days later.

Later that day, Chasity went to the gift shop and bought him some thoughtful items to brighten his day. After he told me this story, he then showed me all the goodies that Chasity had given him. He went on and on about how wonderful Chasity was and how much he loved her. He said that he loved all the staff of CCU, but Chasity stuck out to him the most since she was so kind and dedicated to his well-being.
