RP was extremely gentle, patient, and respectful when assisting my father to ensure that every movement did not cause him additional pain.
My father was admitted to Eglin AFB hospital on two separate occasions within a month’s time. During both of his stays all the health care providers were exceptional. On both occasions, my father had the privilege to have RP as his technician. My father had severe back pain due to the cancer metastasizing to the bone. RP was extremely gentle, patient, and respectful when assisting my father to ensure that every movement did not cause him additional pain. This was extremely important because although my dad was on pain medication, the doctors were still unsure of the dosage, therefore every movement caused unmanageable pain to his back and abdomen.

During one occasion, RP was training an intern and he was very thorough explaining to them why it was important to lift a patient a particular way and the possible damages that could happen if a certain technique or step was overlooked; even when he explained what he was doing to my father it was executed with dignity. RP’s care and concern also extended to myself and my mother while we were visiting my father. Because of RP’s care, professionalism, and respect towards Father, I would like to recognize him. My father was extremely sad, lonely, and worried after his diagnoses but RP did not patronize, he made him feel somewhat normal and hopeful.
