After about 10 minutes of Olympia being there, he took his meds, became calm, gracious, and respectful.
There was a period of time we had a vet who had been known to 3CB due to an extended stay, and in that stay, he had a series of setbacks requiring ICU care. On this particular day which I had been assigned to him, he had awakened from a nap and had become quite agitated and belligerent and had refused his medications. All attempts were failing. I had to call 3CB regarding the event that caused him to move to the ICU (we were looking for rhythm strips from the event) and I had expressed my concerns over his behavior and refusing medications. The staff that answered the call had offered assistance with this vet in medication administration. About 5-10 minutes later, Ms. Carr arrived, wearing purple scrubs and a halo, and a kind, yet no-nonsense smile on her face. As soon as she went in to see this vet, he immediately calmed down, said, "what are you doing here?", to which she answered, "I'm here to see you". She offered to sit down with him, talk with him, and watch some television. After about 10 minutes of her being there, he took his meds, became calm, gracious, and respectful. She continued to sit with him for a little while longer. She is truly the meaning of a nurse.
