When I would get up to walk, Peter would follow behind with a chair and tell me how great I was doing! His word of encouragement always made me want to try harder!
When meeting Peter right off he kept eye contact while speaking to me, he was very respectful and concerned about my feelings and needs, he always made sure I had what I needed, and was always extremely polite. He was always checking in on me nonstop, so I felt cared for! Whenever he would come in, he would ask how I’m doing and if I was in pain he would apologize. When giving me my pain meds he would ask if my IV was OK to make sure it wasn’t hurting or burning me while going in and he would rub my arm for comfort. Before leaving my room, he would always ask if I had everything I needed or if I needed anything and he would always say thank you before leaving. When moving me or getting me up to go to the bathroom he was always so gentle with me and would tell me that I was doing so good and that he knows it hurts but to breathe through the pain. When I would get up to walk, he would follow behind with a chair and tell me how great I was doing! His word of encouragement always made me want to try harder! He always understood how I felt, and I could always joke around with him which was good because I really didn’t have any visitors. He made my stay a great one! My room ended up being a mess and he took time out to clean it and I was beyond happy and impressed because I wouldn’t expect any nurse to do that plus I’m a neat person and I couldn’t get up to do it myself.

Before I forget, he always made sure I was comfortable in bed and would readjust my pillows without me even having to ask! When the shifts would change, he would always introduce the next nurse to me and give them an update on how I’m doing. HE left to go home but wanted me to get up and walk one more time so when I was ready, I pressed the call button, and nobody came! That same night I had to use the restroom and so I pressed the call button, and nobody came! I was about to urinate in bed, so I started getting up myself and when the bed alarm went off that’s when someone came in to help me. The next day I told Peter about how nobody came to take me for my walk and how I almost urinated in bed and he said, "oh my god I'm so sorry you shouldn’t have had to go through that!" Later that day I pushed the call button to go for my walk and nobody came but Peter gave me a number to reach him in case that happened and before I could call, he was already in my room checking on me like he always does.

I have been hospitalized 11 times and I have never met a nurse like Peter! Any patient would be lucky to have Peter as their nurse, I know I was! I would like to thank him because not only did he show me understanding and compassion, but he helped me push myself with his words of encouragement and at home I still hear him in the back of my mind, and it helps me get up and walk. I really appreciate him and everything that he has done for me.
