I have multiple chronic health disorders and so I end up inpatient more than I like. I recently had an infected port and was septic. I was inpatient for 2 weeks. I missed my kids horribly. So, when I was admitted again for possible sepsis, I lost it. I was very down and sad, and honestly kind of scared. Nelida not only came in and went over the day’s plans, meds, and any procedure/test for the day, but she also showed compassion. She helped me find a way to get my girls to see me. (They were of age, FYI). She came in with a smile and a positive outlook which brings me comfort and joy. When it was time to mix my factors product, she had no shame in asking me to walk her through it since I do it at home. That’s my biggest requirement (or wish is a better word) that they are open to learning from their patients and being honest. I felt like Nelida not only was my amazing nurse, but also my friend after 3 days with her. Nelida was always on med schedule. I never had to call to remind her or anything. Please give this hard-working, kind, smart, loving nurse the award she deserves!
