John is a strong, steady, and humble nurse. One thing about his humility that shines each and every day, is his passion to serve others. He rounds with intention and puts the needs of others first. Sometimes this is not quickly recognized by others because of the business of the day. This was evident one Friday when he came to round on Oncology after we had faced a staffing challenge. He came to check on us and was apologizing for not being able to help us find a solution. Without even asking if he could do anything, he looked at the halls and quickly answered the call light of a patient who needed their depends changed. I answered the call with John and we assisted the patient. John engaged the patient with brain cancer. He shared "it is my pleasure to help the patients in this hospital. I am here for you." It was a beautiful experience to see this strong, stoic man show such compassion. The passion for those he serves was palpable. Thank you John for doing what you do, each and every day.
