Maria displayed assertiveness, compassion, and kindness providing safe and dignifying care.
Maria has always displayed the Trust values to their core but on one particular episode of care, I was reminded how proud I am to have her as my colleague. She answered a call from a GP last week who was trying to arrange a doppler for a 98-year-old lady with Dementia. The patient had previously refused to attend. Maria assisted to arrange her attendance straight to Ambulatory Care, bypassing A&E, which could be a more confusing environment for patients with dementia. She stayed with this patient throughout her scan and the Consultant reviewed this patient immediately afterward. All her care needs were attended to, and the patient left with Transport Services after two hours. Maria displayed assertiveness, compassion, and kindness providing safe and dignifying care. This is simply one episode of care, but it serves to remind us all why we are here. Thank you.
