I’ve encountered many nurses during all my three pregnancies, especially postpartum. Most are very kind and compassionate. Small talk is part of the job of being a nurse, so it is truly relieving and heartfelt when one skips the small talk and just speaks to you like a normal person, not a person who is having health issues. I came to 7-Center for the third time (once each time after all 3 babies were born) for postpartum preeclampsia. No matter how many times I’ve been through it, I was still very scared and nervous.

I’m a big worrier and always ask a million questions. My nurse walked in, does her computer stuff, and then introduces herself. I could tell she was very kind and genuinely interested in me and my concerns. I was in rough shape with extremely elevated blood pressure and a pounding headache. I remember vaguely how awful the mag IV was from my last two experiences, but this time I was more scared than ever as my blood pressure reached 119/105 at one point. I thought I was going to have a stroke or a heart attack at any moment.

Kristin gave me her full attention and wanted to know all about my condition and how I was feeling. She reassured me by feeding me knowledge about magnesium and how great I will feel when it is over. I asked her a million questions and she answered every single one with zero sense of being irritated by me. She cared about my pain and did not give off any judgmental vibes.

Not only is she sweet and smart, but she also gave me her full attention and helped me to calm down and understand the process. She is also funny, and her calm demeanor makes you feel confident that you are in the right hands. Kristin was very down to earth and held herself well while alleviating all fears I had going into it. She’s truly one of a kind and deserves to be recognized for her kindness and genuine passion to help others.
