Brittany treated us with such compassion and reassurance the entire day. She offered comfort options I didn't even know I wanted.
Last Friday I was admitted to deliver my stillborn baby. This was the hardest day of my life and I had a lot of fears going into it. Immediately I was greeted by my labor and delivery nurse, Brittany, and she treated us with such compassion and reassurance the entire day. She offered comfort options I didn't even know I wanted. She sat by my bedside and held my hand while I grieved the loss of my unborn baby and she made sure my husband was treated with the same kindness and compassion I was. Even though this was a sad day and one I will never forget, I will also never forget how Brittany made the experience as peaceful as possible. She even stayed beyond her shift end to be with me as I delivered the baby. Before she left I told her she was exactly what I needed that day and that was the absolute truth. The OSF patient surveys always ask if the patient felt God during their stay and I really do believe Brittany was put in my life on that day for a reason. I know without her guidance and care I would not have been strong enough to get through it. I hope someday soon I am able to deliver at OSF again under happier circumstances, and I would love if Brittany were able to be there for that too.
