Kirk helped a little girl be a princess and wave to the crowd. She giggled and smiled all the way to surgery.
Kirk has his own internal policy that he must make his patients laugh before the surgery so they stay calmer. Every so often he has a child patient, and one story is he helped a little girl be a princess and wave to the crowd. She giggled and smiled all the way to surgery.
He doesn’t walk away from a challenge – even took an opportunity to get trained in cardiovascular surgeries as a traveler. And he never cuts a job short – he meets the expectations of the hospital in whatever way is necessary. On his current assignment, he thought he would be doing OR, and when he arrived he was assigned to Endo, and he didn’t complain – just rolled with it.
Kirk is the first person to take on responsibilities that are not normal for a nurse with his background and qualifications. He sweeps floors, reorganizes supply rooms, and helps to train and motivate the techs when it’s needed as well – this is largely why so many places ask him to stick around. On multiple occasions, we have had clients proactively reach out to us requesting that Kirk consider coming to their hospital for his next assignment.
Most recently, he was contacted by an interim manager that he worked with on the west coast, to take an assignment in Florida where she was filling at the time. Kirk was already booked, so the facility pre-booked his assignment 4 months in advance so they wouldn’t lose out on the chance to have him there.
Since beginning travel nursing in 2014, the only assignment for which he ever left THS was to go to Hawaii – and this was only done because THS didn’t have our license to staff in Hawaii at the time. After that Hawaii assignment, he came right back because he loves working for Health Carousel and has worked with us for 4 years now.
He always goes above and beyond. He stays late and works flexible schedules. He is a huge team player, every facility that he has worked at, loves him and always asks for him to come back whenever he wants. He is the go-to guy if they need something. Not only is he a good nurse but he is the guy who will mop the floors and clean the closets, anything he can do to help.
