My dad is a Veteran. He does not like to come to UC. Yesterday, we were able to convince him to stop at UC while at the VA for another appointment. He has been having chest pain with shoulder and back pain for a couple of weeks (intermittently). He was in UC from about 10 AM until after 4 PM. The doctor was absolutely amazing. Of course, my dad was getting impatient and a bit grouchy. Nurse Alicia was wonderful with him. She was very patient and kind. She took time to explain procedures to him multiple times until he was satisfied with the answers. She brought him a tray and made sure it was warm and gave him hot coffee. I would say it was the best UC experience he has ever had. Thank you, Alicia. I (as a family member and nurse myself) noted Alicia pitching in to help other staff. She was stocking, cleaning, helping other patients. All while providing my dad with excellent care. She demonstrated VA’s ICARE values. What an asset!
