Tania maintains the “clothing closet” out of the kindness in her heart and has warmed the hearts of 100s of patients who have benefitted from the clothing available.
Tania has always been a critical part of the 6 East Medicine Unit since 2004, so 16 years she has dedicated to UCSD Hillcrest. Whether she is at the bedside in the charge role or assisting the leadership team, Tania is always going above and beyond on 6 East. Tania took it upon herself to create and establish a “clothing closet” on 6 East. Tania manages generous donations from our team members including shoes, socks, shirts, sweaters, jackets, hats, and much more to provide to our patients who may be homeless or lack clothing upon discharge. Tania maintains the “clothing closet” out of the kindness in her heart and has warmed the hearts of 100s of patients who have benefitted from the clothing available.
Tania is also a Certified Spanish Bilingual Clinician and we cannot thank her enough for the countless translations she has assisted with on 6 East. We have several patients who only speak Spanish and whenever Tania is available on the unit, she is always ready and willing to support the nurse and help the patient with all of their needs.
As if it weren’t enough Tania also coordinates the annual 6 East “Hope for the Holidays” community gift drive. Through Tania’s leadership, 6 East was able to donate over 50 gifts to 50 underprivileged families in the South Bay neighborhoods. Thanks to Tania the 6 East gift donations equated to nearly $2500 for families who otherwise wouldn’t have gifts under their Christmas Tree. Through Tania’s compassion generosity and leadership, we cannot thank her enough for being part of the 6 East family, and for these reasons we truly see her as a DAISY Nurse. Thank you, Tania!
