I was extremely nervous about the surgical procedure I was about to undergo when I was admitted to Ward 10. Louise was the first nurse that I encountered and she took the time to listen to my concerns and to provide a smooth and calm transition to theatre the next day. I returned to Ward 10 and Louise was there waiting for me with a smile. I was so pleased to see her. Louise went above and beyond her duty to ensure that I was comfortable, that I was fed and that I wasn't in too much pain. She came to visit me frequently for brief chats, despite being extremely busy.

I felt that Louise was someone I could trust, she was very empathetic and more than made up for the lack of family visits due to Covid restrictions. The Ward was extremely busy but Louise took the time to engage with all patients and provided excellent nursing care. She would inform me when she was going on her breaks and then pop back to see me on her return. Nothing was too much trouble for her and I marvelled at her energy and her proficiency. She also acted as a mentor and role model for the student nurse assigned to the ward. I really think that Louise is an outstanding nurse who shows 100% commitment to her patients. I have nothing but praise for the nursing care that I have received at UHCW but, as a former nurse myself, Louise really stood out for me.
