I’ve had the privilege of knowing Laura for almost 3 years now. She shows up for every shift eager to meet her patients. I have seen her turn a scared and nervous patient into her best friend – complete with laughs, hugs, and high fives. To a kid with COVID, a high five means the world. She makes her patients feel like her top priority by going above and beyond for each and every one of them. She goes from fun and playful to kind and nurturing to the babies who are alone - even to the babies who are not her patients. Watching her with our cloud baby these past few nights has truly been heartwarming. She swaddles him and rocks him for hours while playing lullabies. I’m sure there are many more reasons why Laura is a DAISY Nurse but these are just a few things I’ve seen this week alone. Laura truly has a heart of gold.
