Amanda immediately stopped the discharge, got an EKG, started a new IV, and called the doctor.
Amanda was the nurse who was about to discharge a patient when he started feeling awful, having tremors, chest pain, and numbness in his arm. She immediately stopped the discharge, got an EKG, started a new IV, and called the doctor. The patient coded, but because she had already been proactive, the doctor was already there and the quick response led to the patient becoming responsive, going to CCU, then for an emergent heart cath. While having a heart cath, the cardiologist found the problem and saved his life. Due to Amanda’s actions, the patient received emergent help that literally saved his life.
