I have worked with Ben Kruse over the past 6 years and have seen him go above and beyond every day to not only treat but really care for his patients. He really is the ultimate nurse because of his calming and friendly personality to his patients and other staff members he encounters day to day. I see that he has a joy in doing his work and the expertise and knowledge he provides to his patients is exceptional.

In just one instance recently we cared for a patient together who spoke only Spanish. Ben communicated with her effortlessly about her life, her pet birds that she loves, and helped me understand so that I could also be part of the conversation. He helped her feel comfortable by getting her a menu in Spanish and made her experience at Mayo in the ICU outstanding.

During Covid-19 Ben cared for many sick and dying patients in the ICU. He provided strength and support to his coworkers and jumped in to assist with a transfer, proving, medical emergency, and most importantly making every patient and their family feel more comfortable and cared for. Ben is a DAISY Nurse as he is selfless, kind, and a good nurse and friend to all.
