Sue has a passion for doing what is right.
Sue has been my nurse manager for the past 3 years. Through this time she has and continues to be an amazing leader. The timeliness of her follow-through is, by far, the best I have ever experienced in my 39 years at Bryan. She listens without reacting, then taking all things into account, shares her response and the reasoning behind it with staff. She seeks out opportunities for all of us to be a better team! She Knows the Way Shows the Way and she exhibits this on a daily basis. She is accessible to staff and encourages our critical thinking and challenges us to strive for excellence.
She was instrumental in making our move from 2N to SPR fairly seamless. She leads our department as she is guided by the One Team One Purpose core value! She creates an environment for learning and growing well beyond what we think our capabilities are. She works collaboratively with physicians and other departments and is highly respected throughout the Medical Center.

Sue has a passion for doing what is right. It’s not always the easiest thing to do but she asks herself what is right and best for our patients. She has the ability to take a step back and logically assess a situation before making decisions. She treats staff, colleagues, physicians, and families in a professional manner that includes respect and kindness. Not one to let the grass grow under her feet, she’ll address communicated issues very quickly and staff appreciates her efficiency.

The list of Sue’s talents and attributes is long and distinguished! I have known her and worked with her my entire career at Bryan; she has always given her best even in times when that takes complete courage and strength. She made difficult choices to keep her part of the remodeling project under budget and yet offer the best of care in the space and with the equipment necessary for outstanding service. She is one of those leaders that when you work on a project or have a task to undertake, you are grateful for her presence, manner, and leadership to achieve the end goal, typically success if she is involved.
Sue can also be found promoting Bryan in our community through volunteering, mentoring students from various nursing schools, and donating items to school children each winter holiday season in the support of her departments. Sue is kind, knowledgeable, an expert, leads by example, flexible, reliable, trustworthy, task-oriented, someone I always look forward to working with, does the hard thing because it is the right thing, and is able to pull it together successfully. She always takes me and my family into consideration when making decisions about staffing and hours. Sue is the leader that all leaders should want to be like at Bryan or anywhere!
