The second night of my stay Stephanie again visited my room and gave me loving care, which I so appreciated.
I was a COVID patient last year. On the night shift, I had the pleasure of having her care for me when I was very ill. She came into my dimly lit room after a soft rap on the door in full protective gear. “Hello Darling, how are you?” was her initial greeting. I was chilled from fever and needed my gown changed. She called the nurse’s station for help getting clean, warm blankets, and freshwater. Her voice was firm to the aide but respectful. The aide appeared quickly to her satisfaction, her voice changed to appreciation and kindness for the quick response. She changed my gown and wrapped me in warm blankets. Oh, this was heavenly, and I told her so. She inspected my IV and it wasn’t to her liking, so she untaped it and retaped the IV. She asked me about my family, wife, and children. We visited. Her touch was soft and gentle. Who was this angel of the night?

The second night of my stay she again visited my room and gave me loving care, which I so appreciated. She was almost completely hidden underneath her protective gear. We chatted briefly about her life struggles. Oh my, what a fantastic person to have on the staff at IU Health! She left my room closed the door. I could hear her voice across the hall, “Hello, Darling, how are you?” I thought and smiled to myself, "Another broken body needed healing and who better to do that than nurse Stephanie Clark." I promised her a poem which hasn’t been written yet.
