Christina received multiple nominations from co-workers and received the DAISY Award posthumously. (1) She was the most compassionate and kindest nurse, midwife, and human. She loved being a nurse, and it showed. (2) Christina was the epitome of a beautiful, patient, kind and nonjudgmental person. She's hands down one of the best nurses I've ever met. She also makes an amazing friend; she's always been there for my family and me. I can't begin to fathom how our hearts will even mend. Christina deserves this Daisy, she deserves the world, and if I could have given it to her, I would have. She has helped countless mothers, babies, and families in the most exciting time of their lives and sometimes the scariest. I have learned so much from Christina in the labor and delivery world and also just the real world. She is honestly the best person I've ever met; anyone would agree that your life is forever changed as soon as you meet her. I know mine is. I love you, Christina. (3) Christina was the most helpful and gracious person when I was first oriented to the unit. Her patience and way with people were like no other. (4) In August, the Noyes family lost one of the purest, kind, and compassionate nurses ever to grace your doors. Christina was so smart and compassionate. She chose to further her education and become a midwife focusing on women in the community who choose natural childbirth at home. When her health no longer allowed her to do this, she returned to OB as a nurse again and worked right up until a few days of her death.   I am now a retired OB nurse of 33 years. I had the privilege to work with Christina several years ago. I have always looked forward to working whenever I was scheduled with her because she never ceased to amaze me. Even though I had many more years under my belt, she taught me something every time I worked with her. She excited me by showing that birth didn't have to be "medical." She taught me to be in tune with my patient and her baby. She was generous and kind, and a great example of this was when she went on a missionary trip to Africa. I have thought and thought, and there is no one incident that stood out. EVERY patient was treated the same, with compassion, respect for her wishes and expertise. In closing, I would like to say there was never a more deserving nurse than Christina to receive this award. I only wish she was here to accept it herself. (5) I was Christina's preceptor when she first came to Noyes. I could see her level of commitment to mothers and babies immediately. She brought a level of knowledge far beyond her new graduate status. Christina was a calming presence on our unit, even on our crazy busy nights. Her ability to assess a patient and report to the provider was professional. Christina worked well with all her co-workers and did not stop working until everyone was finished with their work. Christina was very compassionate and caring with all of her patients, no matter the complexity or social situation they presented with. I have worked in several different hospitals and non-hospital settings over my 49+ years as an RN. Christina was the best, well rounded nurse I have ever had the pleasure of working with. She will be greatly missed. (6) Christina was a humble, kind person. When I first began working with Christina, she loved teaching. She was so passionate about her job and her patients. Getting to know Christina as a coworker was such a blessing, but knowing her as a friend was so amazing. She had such a genuine passion and spirit. She was the definition of an EXTRAORDINARY nurse and individual. (7) I have been staring at this piece of paper for a long time, trying to put pen to paper, but I feel speechless. Christina is so many things: she is kind, she is caring, she is selfless, she is oh so strong, she is strong in her faith, and she is one of the greatest nurses I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I've been by her side during countless deliveries, and she speaks to her patients with such calmness, and her pregnant moms always locked eyes with her because she was the voice of reason and stillness in one of the most vulnerable times in their lives. Christina was a teacher, she loved to help and show any new nurse how to be the best possible nurse, and she did it in the most gentle and loving way. In my days with Christina as an L&D nurse, I felt at ease, knowing that no matter what walked off the elevator onto our unit would be ok because she was simply the best. I had the honor of gaining one of the greatest friends I've ever had, and I told her on multiple occasions that she was truly and an angel sent from above. Christina was very sick in the last few months of her life, but you would not have known; she never let anyone down as she continued to care for her patients with such grace. She would have a procedure done, receive chemo and come to work to care for women and their babies the very same day. Christina is truly the picture for what the DAISY award represents. She is at peace with the Lord now, but I still feel her here with us during every delivery. If I had to guess, she is in heaven right now taking care of people. Rest in peace out sweet angel. (8) "A truly amazing labor and delivery nurse is hard to find and impossible to forget." This quote fits when people think of Christina. Every patient she came in contact with at Noyes was her top priority. She greeted every patient with her warm and comforting smile and soothing and relaxing voice. Christina had a way of making everyone's day a little better. Working side by side with her on the night shift for a few years, she always made my night a little better. Even on the worst shifts ever – she made me smile. Christina's patients were truly blessed to have been cared for by her. She made every patient a little less scared of the unknown of labor and delivery. She always remained calm from the delivery room to the OR for a stat c-section. The comfort and love she showed her patients are unmatchable. Her compassion and love for the babies she helped bring into this world were unmeasurable. Christina was there the night my son was born. Even though I had been an L&D nurse for several years, I was nervous – I was only 36 weeks with my only son. Christina was so helpful – listening to her calming voice made me relax. When my son was shipped to NICU shortly after birth, she comforted me and prayed for him. Her thoughts and prayers helped me. She always would keep you in her prayers – whether it was for a stubbed toe or a serious illness, you knew she was praying for you. Every person Christina ever came in contact with was truly blessed to have met such a wonderful woman. A truly amazing labor and delivery nurse does not even describe Christina. Christina was a truly amazing person that will be impossible to forget.
