Not only did Lauren make this happen, but she did this with the utmost skill, compassion, clear communication, and grace.
As the Delta Variant of COVID raced through our Community, Labor and Delivery was not exempt from the challenges of caring for pregnant women, sick with this devastating disease. On Saturday, Lauren Priddy, L&D Charge RN received a call from our MFM stating a 30 week pregnant mom being cared for in PCU was worsening, needing to deliver then transfer to ICU. Lauren quickly jumped into action meeting the physician team at the bedside, contacting the OR teams, Anesthesia, the L&D team, NICU, House Supervisor, Respiratory, ICU, and all the other support teams required to make this a successful endeavor. Coordinating an urgent C-Section, in an off-unit OR, necessitating so many different resources can be difficult to manage. Not only did Lauren make this happen, but she did this with the utmost skill, compassion, clear communication, and grace maintaining the patient at the center for the entire experience.
Nomination from the doctor: Lauren helped tremendously with coordination of care for a very sick pregnant mom with COVID pneumonia. She displayed altruism, leadership, and efficiency. We could not have taken care of this mom and her baby with her expertise and professionalism. I was very impressed with her.
