Lucy is so loving and kind to all her patients and also to her staff. She speaks so highly of this hospital, her job, and her co-workers always.
Lucy is the definition of an Extraordinary Nurse. I met Lucy as a brand new nurse. From day one she has never stopped encouraging me and helping me grow. In the last five years that I’ve known Lucy I’ve seen her go above and beyond on more occasions than I can remember. She is so loving and kind to all her patients and also to her staff. She speaks so highly of this hospital, her job, and her co-workers always. She loves with all of her heart. I’ve never personally witnessed a nurse care for her patients with the compassion that Lucy has. Her love and attention to detail for our laboring women and new mothers is amazing to witness. No job is too great for Lucy. She consistently ensures her rooms are clean by taking out the trash, changing sheets, and she loves to ensure everyone has fresh towels and good food to eat!

Another one of Lucy’s many gifts is her love to teach. She teaches NRP-Neonatal Resuscitation and if you’ve taken her class you know how good it is! Her passion is undeniable! She also loves to teach new nurses, our wonderful travelers. She’s extraordinary in the way she invests in everyone. She’s taught me countless little bits of information that I carry with me not only in my professional life, but personal too. For example, the importance of knowing everyone’s name, or not being afraid of emptying my own trash can, or getting the screw driver out when the paper towels are empty. More importantly, it’s ok to sit with a patient for hours if that’s what they truly need in that moment. She taught me it’s ok to cry with my patients, but not to cry more than they are. She’s bought be books and supported me through every step of my nursing career in any way she could.

One of my favorite memories as a new nurse was when she set up a scavenger hunt on the unit. Fast forward a few years and Lucy has been going through the unthinkable in her personal life, but when she’s here, her patients truly benefit. And even during the hardest times in her own life, she is an Extraordinary Nurse in so many ways.
