In the short time I have had the pleasure of working with Jackie she has demonstrated some of the highest quality nursing care I have witnessed throughout my career as a critical care nurse. Specifically last week Jackie acted quickly, thoughtfully, and professionally throughout a very stressful day which included a code blue and reintubation. Teamwork is what saved this patient’s life and Jackie was one of the pillars of the team. Additionally, she acted with great compassion and care toward the patient. Jackie ensured the patient was clean and comfortable as well as provided extremely skilled ICU nursing care. Jackie’s skills including wound care and bleeding control IV and lab skills were also exceptional. It is rare to see such high levels of technical skill as well as caring and compassion, but Jackie demonstrates both.

The patient was lucky Jackie was working that day as was I. Not only did Jackie take care of the patient with compassion she acted in the same way towards her co-workers. Even though it was a busy and stressful day Jackie checked to make sure I was ok and made sure I took a break to eat something. Both the patients and the staff are lucky to have Jackie here at the Cheyenne VA.
