My husband was admitted for COVID complications. His condition declined and he ended up in ICU. He was placed on high flow oxygen and we were both scared to death. During his stay, Delaney took care of him multiple days. I cannot describe the compassion she showed both of us during his stay. Being a nurse I knew the seriousness of his condition and not being able to be by his side was traumatic for the both of us. She took the time to talk to me no matter how many times I called to check on him and answered ALL my questions. She was compassionate, caring and never made me feel like I was bothering her. She talked to me like he was her only patient even though I know she was busy and had other patients and family members to take care of. She comforted me as I cried on the phone when she gave me updates and contacted me if there was any change in his condition.

My cell phone rang one afternoon while I was in a meeting, I looked down saw it was an ICU number and stepped out to answer, it was Delaney. The excitement in her voice made me cry. She told me they had been able to decrease his oxygen and he was changed to a nasal cannula. She was not his nurse that day but she was so excited for the improvement she called me immediately to let me know. She had been with us through a very scary time and I am so thankful she took the time out of her busy day to call with amazing news.
Being a nurse I know you can get tied up and move on from the patients you took care of the day before but she went above and beyond to keep me informed and take excellent care of my husband during a very stressful time.

I have worked at Jefferson Regional for 21 years and know it is an amazing place to work, but being on the other side as a family member I am thankful for the care and compassion shown to us by Delaney during his stay. We will be forever grateful for her!
