As the boat we were riding in crossed the wake of another boat our boat came down hard. In that instant my wife sustained a very dangerous L1 burst fracture – and a piece of the shattered vertebra was pressing on the spinal cord. For 2 days before the delicate and intricate surgery, the staff at the ortho unit (2 West) kept her calm and safe from further injury. For ten days after the surgery they tended to her every need. The staff- and in particular Sarah, assisted my wife with every aspect of her medical care-  washing, toileting, eating, getting her digestive system back on track, and pain management. They worked tirelessly, constantly, and patiently caring for my wife. They were attentive responsive compassionate cheerful and respectful of her dignity at all times. We cannot thank them enough and we cannot commend them enough for their kindness and diligence during this difficult time – they were instrumental in the success of her surgery and recovery.
