It is with great pride and admiration that we are here today to celebrate Joan Barnes. She is an excellent nurse and has dedicated 45 and ½ years to Pine Rest. Joan spent most of her career working with the Child and Adolescent population at Pine Rest but also served as Nursing Supervisor. Joan is considered a leader by her peers. Peers describe Joan as a strong colleague, a wonderful example of patient care, she is thoughtful, caring, and supportive. Joan has trained many new employees and welcomed new members to the Pine Rest team. She has always done that with great enthusiasm and loyalty. Joan, we know the amount of effort you have put into your work as a nurse here and we want you to know that your efforts are greatly appreciated. The Child and Adolescent Unit rewards members of the team with the superhero of the month award and this award was given to Joan in 2019 and the superhero award still hangs on the unit today but has been altered to say Superhero of ALL TIMES by her night shift peers! Joan is certainly an asset to this company, and we know that Pine Rest wouldn’t be the same without people like you. Joan has impacted many young lives over her years of service.
