Pam embraces all the challenges that are put before her and never misses an opportunity to educate us all on the changes that occur regularly.
I have never seen a more dedicated employee who shows up to work 6 days a week with the enthusiasm of her first day of work every day she is here. Positive isn’t even strong enough to describe her care and she has compassion for each and every one of her co-workers. She embraces all the challenges that are put before her and never misses an opportunity to educate us all on the changes that occur regularly. You will never see her ignore a bell. She will always change a bed, help a patient, empty a trash can, deliver a tray, pass meds, or anything else for that matter. She jumps right in alongside each and every one of us. She is a role model to many, and she’s the reason I came to work at WCGH and the reason many of us are still here. Pam is very humble, but we look up to her and we know she has our backs when we’re working alongside her. She has an amazing work ethic. Thank you, Pam, for all you do.

I would like to nominate my co-worker, Pamela Sprague, for her amazing service and dedication to patients and staff. Pam always goes above and beyond for others. There have been many numerous instances where Pam helped me personally. I have seen Pam take busy admissions as a charge nurse on MSU. Pam is always one of the first to answer any call light and address needs.

Recently, in July 2021, Pam truly saved the day. We were extremely busy with a full census and high acuity. Pam took a 1:1 assignment. The patient was very ill and needed a lot of nursing attention. We truly appreciated the amazing support and care. I am aware of many instances where Pam went above and beyond. Thank you!

Pam is an exceptional nurse and a benefit to the entire team as charge. She keeps the night staff feeling like a family and makes every patient feel like they are the only ones in the hospital the way she makes them feel so cared for.

Where do I begin? Pam Sprague, RN/Charge RN, is a perfect example of what a great nurse is and should be. She is kind, compassionate, dedicated, and a wonderful role model. Pam takes her job to heart, has a positive attitude, and keeps a smile on her face. Not only does she take excellent care of the patients, but she also takes care to see that staff is taken care of as well, and in these times (with Covid, staff stresses, and other divides) it’s important to make sure of that. A happy, healthy staff/team is able to support one another and provide the best care to the patients.

As Charge Nurse, Pam is a great leader with a calm manner and a sense of understanding in all situations. She has a wide range of experience to bring to the team and her knowledge is so helpful and useful. She is a perfect “go-to” person if one needs help or advice and if there is a problem that needs to be solved, you can count on Pam to help solve it or get through the proper channels to see that it is.

A recent example occurred on Saturday. This is when Husson Student Nurses arrived in the morning to the WCGH MSU to do some of their clinicals. Due to a miscommunication prior to arriving, the students had not been fit tested for their N95 masks that are currently required for patient care. Pam called the Respiratory Department; however, there was no one available to do the fit testing for the students, of which there were around 10. Instead of sending the students home, Pam, knowing how to perform the fit testing and having just worked the overnight shift as Charge Nurse, stayed and fit tested those students so they were able to stay and get their clinical shift in. Pam went above and beyond to see that these future nurses were taken care of and knows the importance of a good clinical experience.

Pam always puts others first, her dedication to her job and nursing is bar none, and she is also one of the nicest people you could ever know. Pam not only works as a Charge RN, but also precepts new Charge RNs and New Grads at the same time while working the night shift. We have three New Grads who won't leave the night shift because of Pam! She is a true DAISY Nurse.
