I would like to thank Brandy Maxwell and share my story of why she is so special. This nursing student has gone above and beyond the call of duty in providing care for her patients, as well as educating and advocating for her fellow student nurses. Mrs. Maxwell throughout this year has hosted multiple group study sessions which she has made available to her fellow classmates for the sake of improving their education and progressing their practice. Not for the recognition or honors, but for the betterment of nursing and the Vocational Nursing Program.

Often these study sessions would last until midnight, all this to ensure she has adequately equipped her fellow students with the tools they need to succeed in the classroom and in the care setting. Through her clinical preparedness, Mrs. Maxwell has provided superior care to patients in a variety of settings from long-term to acute care. Mrs. Maxwell possesses a bedside manner second to few I have experienced in my career. Mrs. Maxwell has continually displayed her passion for nursing and her compassion for the circumstances of those she has provided care. As Mrs. Maxwell continues to progress through her nursing career, I know with certainty she will continue to advocate for her patients, her fellow nurse, and the practice of nursing with passion and competence.
