Lindsey established a rapport that felt like friendship, always answered my questions honestly, and helped me feel in control in an uncontrollable situation.
Lindsey was a calming influence, honest caregiver, and true support through one of the scariest times in my life. I believe she helped save my life. I was re-admitted to the Labor & Delivery unit less than 12 hours after being discharged from the MBU with my baby. I was terrified and the last place I wanted to be was in the hospital while my newborn was away from me. I had severe onset preeclampsia with uncontrolled high blood pressure and pulmonary hypertension. My blood pressure was continuously increasing, and my doctors were concerned about stroke and heart failure. I was scared that I wouldn't be around to see my beautiful daughter and her brother grow up.

Through all of this, Lindsey was there for me and made me feel in control of my care as much as possible. While Lindsey was my nurse I was mostly alone in my room, stewing in my thoughts and missing my baby who was just 3 days old. She remembered me as a student in her Childbirth class as well as from my previous admission where she was briefly my nurse before I transferred to the MBU. She established a rapport that felt like friendship, always answered my questions honestly, and helped me feel in control in an uncontrollable situation. I know she had several patients that day but made sure to always be the one to take my blood pressures, help clean my pump parts and store my milk.

When my bp was continually climbing, she was in the room when my doctor told me I'd need to transfer to the MICU and be placed on a continuous IV drip to stabilize. This was terrifying news to me and I was alone when I received it. She stayed with me and supported me until my sister arrived. She started my IV drip with a MICU nurse before I was transferred. During this procedure, I noticed my IV start was blown and no longer getting medicine into my vein. Lindsey listened to my concern and acted quickly and precisely to get anesthesia into the room ASAP for a new IV, give me oral meds and get the drip started immediately. In those 5 minutes, I was stabilized because of her quick-acting and excellent care. She then accompanied me and my sister to my MICU room and ensured I was settled before handing my care off to the MICU.

I cannot ever thank Lindsey enough for being there for me during such a scary time. I am so grateful for her care, support, and dedication to patients like me and know she is a true DAISY Nurse.
